Are All Feng Shui Consultants Scams?

Scammers exist. So do real masters — here are five ways to tell them apart

✦ By Master Rain ✦

✦Let's Be Blunt

Someone asked me:"Master Rain, are feng shui consultants all just scammers?"

My answer: I won't whitewash my own industry — there are plenty of frauds in it. But if you write off the entire field, you're the one who loses.

A scammer uses the name of feng shui to take your money; a real practitioner uses the craft of feng shui to change your environment. Rejecting both because you fear the first is like refusing to see any doctor because quacks exist. The skill is telling them apart.

✦Check One: Lineage — Who Was Their Teacher?

Feng shui is a field craft. You don't learn it from books; it's transmitted master to student, on site. Before hiring anyone, ask three questions: Who was your teacher? How many years did you train? How many on-site cases have you handled?

If they can't answer, walk away.

His lineage traces back to Master Zhang Jiuyi, the Qing-dynasty founder of contract feng shui: work first, payment only after results. Among my teacher's hundred-plus disciples, I am the strongest at locating dragon veins and burial sites — proven on site, case after case, before my fellow disciples.

Anyone with no lineage who read a few books and hung out a shingle — nine out of ten are hustlers. In this field, lineage is the only diploma that matters.

✦Check Two: Will They Guarantee the Result?

My school's founding rule is"contract feng shui" — work first, payment only after results. My version: an effectiveness guarantee — if it doesn't work, you get your money back. Site adjustment, factory selection, corporate planning: guaranteed results or a full refund. (Destiny readings are excluded — verified on the spot.)

Would a scammer sign a money-back guarantee? The willingness to put"ineffective — full refund"in writing is itself a filter.

✦Check Three: Do They Reason With You, or Scare You?

A real practitioner explains: this road rushing your main gate creates this kind of sha; that crooked water mouth drains wealth this way — the logic holds up.

A scammer's playbook is fear:"Your door orientation clashes with your birth chart — disaster within three years unless I fix it!"And before you can think, he's pulling out a $3,000 "consecrated artifact."

Remember This Red Line

I don't use the East-four/West-four birth-chart scare script. A door's orientation must be decided by the external environment in full — mountains, water, roads, trees, towers, buildings. Landform and sha come first. The more a consultant leans on fear, the faster you should leave.

✦Check Four: Will They Come to Your Site?

I insist on on-site surveys. I don't do remote video readings — you can't read an environment's energy through a screen, and it's irresponsible. Diagnosing feng shui without visiting is like a doctor prescribing from a photograph.

Won't even show up but wants payment upfront? Walk away. No regrets.

✦Check Five: Is the Pricing Transparent?

My website publishes a full fee schedule — single sessions, long-term contracts, membership tiers, all in writing. My teacher charges hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars, because the results are worth it. Factory engagements run from hundreds of thousands to over a million dollars; Hong Kong tycoons keep retainer feng shui masters — those people are sharper than anyone. They don't pay scammers.

Watch out for two extremes: absurdly cheap, and the consultant who opens by selling you an overpriced"artifact."Real adjustment uses objects as one tool among three — right object, right time, right position. Anyone whose business is selling expensive trinkets is a salesman, not a feng shui master.

✦Common Questions

Q: Are all feng shui consultants scams?

No. Scammers exist — but so do real masters. Check five things: lineage, an effectiveness guarantee, reason vs. fear tactics, on-site surveys, and transparent pricing.

Q: Can I trust a consultant who claims 100% accuracy?

No. Too many variables shape a life for anyone to be 100% accurate; anyone claiming it is a fraud. A master reads the big picture correctly, most of the time — probabilities, not certainties.

Q: A consultant visited and immediately tried to sell me expensive artifacts. Is that normal?

No. Real adjustment needs three things — the right object, the right time, the right position — and the object is only one tool of the three, placed by the master at a specific hour in a specific position. Someone whose business is selling overpriced artifacts is a salesman, not a feng shui master.

Q: Are remote video feng shui readings reliable?

No. An environment's energy can't be read through a screen. I insist on on-site surveys and don't offer video readings — responsibility to the client is the bottom line.

Don't Fear the Scammers. Fear Not Recognizing a Real Master.
